THE CITYGOVERNMENT OF BATAC, in cooperation with the Center for Health Development Ilocos, the City Health Office, the City Social Welfare and Development Office and the City Nutrition Action Office held 5 series of a 2-day seminar/training on Community Health Team at the City Health Office - Conference Room at Brgy. 4 Nalupta, Batac City.

The participants of the said training were the Barangay Health Workers (BHW), Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPO) and the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) of the 43 barangays of the City of Batac.

The organizers scheduled five batches of seminars in order to cater all the needs of the participants. The first batch of the CHT Seminar went on last February 14-15, 2012 succeedingly until the last batch held last February 28 – 29, 2012.

The CHT training aims to help families break barriers to accessing health services. The role of the CHT partner is to directly communicate with underserved families – especially those covered by PantawidPamilya program of the government – to give them the information they need to recognize their health risks, plan for their health, and access the medical services they need. The CHT Partner serves as the link to the local health system – introducing them to the wide array of services it offers, giving them real options in health care and enabling them to make informed decisions about their health.

The task ahead is really challenging and requires lots of works but knowing fully well that you are contributing to improving the health of families – especially that of mothers and children – is enough reward in itself. As one big team for community health development, together, we can help these families live healthy lives and do our share in moving our communities forward.
